St. Pete Staycation.
About a year ago, we were traveling full time and had no idea we would be living in one place in 2019. We’ve traveled all over the world— and while we’re daydreaming of which country we want to visit next, it’s easy to forget about the beauty that our own city has to offer.
For the first part of our Staycation Series, we teamed up with Plaza Beach Resorts to remind you that you don’t have to travel far to have a great time!
Plaza Beach Resorts is a collection of three award winning resorts. You have access to all three locations no matter where you decide to stay!
Sunday night, we stayed at Plaza Beach Hotel. It sits on the Gulf of Mexico and is centrally located on St. Pete Beach. St. Pete Beach was rated the #1 Beach Destination in the United States by TripAdvisor.
When we arrived at the hotel, we checked in with Jackie at the front desk. She was very helpful and made check-in quick and efficient. She filled us in on the hotel amenities and presented us with a coupon book for nearby attractions. We also arrived just in time for social hour, which provided free beer and wine. [Bingo!]
Our suite was very comfortable. We had a first floor, gulf front view with a balcony. The room had a fully equipped kitchenette, living room with a flat screen tv, complimentary Wi-Fi, and plenty of space to store luggage. This makes the hotel perfect for couples, families, and anyone traveling for business.
The gulf front hotel makes you feel at home and offers several activities to keep you entertained. You have access to the hotel pool, fitness center, two volleyball courts, St. Pete Beach, mini golf, laundry facilities, barbecue grills, the beach bar, and the list goes on!
We spent some time out on the beach before heading to dinner at Grand Hacienda. It′s one of our favorite restaurants on St. Pete Beach and we were thrilled to see it is conveniently located across the street.
After dinner, we took advantage of the hotel activities— beach volleyball, mini golf, and shuffleboard. The other guests seemed to be really enjoying their vacation, as well!
To close out the night, we grabbed a drink at the pool bar and walked out to the beach to catch the sunset. We try to watch as many sunsets as possible— take a break from technology and a little time to clear your mind. This was a perfect ending to a great stay at the Plaza Beach Hotel.
In the morning, the hotel serves complimentary coffee next to the main office. If you’re looking for a good place to grab breakfast after you check out, try Sea Turtle Restaurant or Café Soleil [both in walking distance!]
Final Thoughts: We’ve noticed it’s so easy to get caught up in your day-to-day routine. We found it so refreshing to take a short vacation not too far from home. Plaza Beach Hotel is clean, comfortable and has everything you need. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend getaway!
